DAV Department of Arkansas
The Department of Arkansas is made up of 32 Chapters from across the state, located in nearly every major city in Arkansas.  We have over 18,000 members in our Organization.  We have a Hospital Service Coordinator at both Fayeteville Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and John McClellan VAMC in Little Rock.  These HSC's manage the DAV Transportation Network, that provides FREE rides for Veterans to the VA.  Most of these Veterans would have no other way to receive critically needed treatment and medicines that they might not get with out this service.  There is NEVER a charge for ANY service provided by the Disabled American Veterans.  Our members log thousands of hours volunteering to all VA facilities in Arkansas, and in their local communities.  We also have a National Service Office staff at the North Little Rock Campus of the VAMC.  Our National Service Officers are highly trained subject matter experts on Veterans benefits and Programs.  The NSO's and its professional office staff help thousands of Veterans and their families obtain VA benefits.  This office helps ALL VETERANS whether or not they are a member of DAV.  Each year the Department of Arkansas certifies its members, through an annual Chapter Service Officer Certification.  CSO's are given a comprehensive curriculum updating or beginning their training.  CSO's serve at Chapters from around the state serving local Veterans in their area.  They are a liaison between the NSO office and the Veteran, Spouse, Widow, or Orphan apply for VA benefits.
DAV National Organization
With more than 1.3 million members nationaly, Disabled American Veterans is an organization of disabled veterans who are focused on building better lives for disabled veterans and their families.

The organization accomplishes this goal by providing free assistance to veterans in obtaining benefits and services earned through their military service. It is fully funded through its membership dues and public contributions. It is not a government agency and receives no government funds.

DAV is the foremost representative of the interests of disabled veterans and their families, their widowed spouses and their orphans before federal, state, and local governments. Our National Legislative Program ensures disabled veterans are not forgotten by lawmakers.

The DAV was formed as our country faced the painful effects of World War I. Throughout our 85-year history, DAV has grown and adapted to face the needs of disabled veterans. As a new generation of wartime disabled veterans return from the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan, the DAV is working hard to ensure all veterans are cared for well into the future.
